Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a patented material developed in the early 1990's by Mitsubishi Corporation.of Japan.     It is 99.9% pure silver, not Sterling silver. Sterling silver is .925 pure silver added to other alloys such as Nickel.    PMC is Nickel free PURE SILVER. Without alloys pure silver is very soft, so that is why we limit our pieces to pendants, pins, and earrings as they are less susceptible to scratch, dent or break.    The gemstones we use are precious stones that will withstand the heat of firing such as Ruby, Sapphire, and Tourmaline.
